Row Your Own Way · 13 June 2024 to 31 December 2024 ·

BHF is proud to be charity partner of The Gemini Boat Race 2024. To celebrate, we’re asking you to row a distance of your choice to help raise funds for lifesaving research.

Story

I'm taking part in a 50 in 50 Row Challenge for British Heart Foundation because it is only through the work of the BHF, and organisations like it, that I can jump on an indoor rower without worrying about my heart.

In 2023 I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation, a condition where my heart would regularly lose rhythm and beat either way too fast or slow. It changed my life pretty radically, but there were treatment options and in 2023 I had a procedure that sounded like pure sci-fi but gave me a shot at recovery. It worked, and now in 2024 I'm officially well again and no longer take heart meds.

So BHF's Row Your Own Way event seemed timely; I'm safe to put in the hard work to rebuild my fitness, for this have just bought a rower to train at home, the BHF is a cause I now support and a fundraising challenge is excellent motivation.

So whilst I'm rowing my 50km in 50 days, from 21 Mar to 9 May 2024 please support the BHF, donate and help turn science fiction into reality for somebody else too...
