Story
In October 2025 I'm stepping out of comfort zone to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society in memory of my Nanny Beacham.
Nan lived with dementia for years before eventually passing away during the pandemic. Dementia is a cruel condition that impacts the victim's loved ones as much as the victim themselves.
However, with the right care there can still be moments of magic. For me it was watching Nan bond with my daughter, her grand daughter, over a shared love of dance.
That's why I'm going out of my comfort zone to spend a week in October trekking across the Sahara desert. Any one that knows me knows this will be a challenge - I don't do well in extreme temperatures, I'm not a huge fan of sand and I will definitely miss plumbing! Plus scorpions...
However, if I can raise some money towards this amazing cause that helps other sufferers, like my nan, and their families it will be 100% worth it!!!
EDF commit to raising a whopping £300,000 through employee fundraising to support Alzheimer’s Society services and ground-breaking dementia research.
