230km. Five Days. £10,000 for the Rangers. 🦏
I’m taking on one of the biggest physical and mental challenges of my life: the For Rangers Ultra — a 230km, five-day, self-sufficient ultramarathon across Kenya’s wildlife conservancies.
That’s 143 miles — more than five marathons in five consecutive days — through mountains, forests, open plains and dry riverbeds, in temperatures reaching 34°C.
I’ll carry everything I need on my back, camp each night and get up the next morning to do it all over again.
But this challenge is about far more than the distance.
This is our chance to stand with those who stand for the wild.
Every day, wildlife rangers put themselves on the frontline to protect rhinos and some of the world’s most endangered species from poaching. They work in harsh, remote and often dangerous conditions, and tragically, around 100 rangers are killed in the line of duty every year, with many more injured or left unable to work.
Behind every one of those losses is a family too — often left without the financial support or security they need.
I’m aiming to raise £10,000 for Save the Rhino International and ForRangers, helping provide essential equipment, specialist training, communications, medical care, life insurance and better working conditions for the people risking their lives to protect wildlife.
Every donation can have a real impact.
£17 could provide a life-saving first aid kit.
£35 could help provide life insurance for a ranger and their family.
£82 could provide a smartphone for vital communication and conservation work.
£180 could provide a three-person patrol tent.
£3,200 could help build a new patrol camp.
So this isn’t simply about completing 230km. It’s about helping keep rangers safe, supporting their families and giving them the tools they need to continue protecting species that could otherwise be lost forever.
There will be moments when 230km feels impossible.
But my challenge lasts five days.
For the rangers, theirs continues every single day.
Any donation, big or small, would mean a huge amount. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would be just as appreciated.
230km. Five days. £10,000.
Every mile for the rangers. Every step for the rhinos. 🦏
