Story
Having done many marathons over the years as a former professional athlete, this one isn’t about the marathon.
It’s not about the distance, the time, or the finish line.
It’s about purpose.
Born and raised in Africa, and having returned in recent years to work on sport projects and events across the continent, I’ve seen the extraordinary strength and potential of African communities. But I’ve also witnessed the harsh realities — where access to basic education is still a daily struggle for too many children.
That’s why I’m running the Sierra Leone Marathon for Street Child — a charity that works on the frontlines to ensure children can access education in some of the world’s toughest environments. They don’t just offer quick fixes; they help build futures, supporting families and communities to break the cycle of poverty through long-term solutions.
This run is my way of giving back. Of reconnecting with the continent that shaped me. Of standing in solidarity with children who deserve the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.
If you can support my journey — whether through a donation or simply sharing this message — you’ll be helping Street Child continue their vital work in Sierra Leone and beyond.
Thank you for being part of this.
