Story
I am back raising money for Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The Hospital who are so dear to our families heart and saved Liv as a baby and take care of her to this day.
By now I am sure you all know our Story... but I am going to tell it again.
In 2018 Kate was pregnant with TWINS!!! On the 20 weeks scan the nurse found an irregularity with one of the babies heart beats, it was very slow. From here we went to numerous scans and meeting and it was diagnosed as congenital heart block. There was a great deal of worry throughout the pregnancy and Kate was scanned every other day until the delivery date.
The babies were successfully delivered at the Women's Hospital, Liverpool by C-section, twin girls!!! Ruby and Liv!!! Immediately Liv was rushed by ambulance to Alder Hey, leaving Kate and Ruby at the Women's went with Liv.
Liv spent the next 4 weeks on Ward 1C of Alder Hey while she got big and strong enough for her operation. With her sister joining her every day and her big brother left at home being looked after by Gaga. After 2 weeks she had an operation and was given a micro pacemaker. 2 weeks later she was strong enough to leave Alder Hey and begin her life at home with her family of 5!!! At 18 months Liv's pacemaker broke so she under went another operation. Since then Liv has had regular check ups with Alder Hey. She also had lots of 'play therapy' sessions where she got used to hospital visits. She now loves visiting her special hospital.
Liv is now 7 and thriving!!! She does gymnastics, although cannot do certain exercises on the bars and she is a brilliant netballer!!!
We could never thank Alder Hey enough for what the have done for our family! We will be forever grateful. That is why is we keep running and rowing.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Love The Donalds
