The Challenge

To complete 4 rounds of golf in one day on July 3rd 2024.

That's over 20 miles

That's over 400 shots (most likely - my best ever is 91)

That's over 12 hours zigzagging and digging up the course

and I'm 68

but it's the only sponsorship thing I've done in living memory and it's for a great cause that is close to my heart!

The Cause

Club Soda, A local Croydon charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism access fulfilling cultural and social lives.

As the lucky dad of a 39 year old son with learning difficulties I am delighted to be able to raise some much needed funds for a local Croydon charity (and their partners) that do so much to help adults with learning disabilities and or autism lead fulfilling, active lives.

We are very fortunate in the UK that those born with more challenges than most are supported well by the state - through housing and care to keep them safe and well. As they grow into adult life though many find it difficult to access the sort of fulfilling social and cultural life that other adults of a similar age are able to enjoy.

Club Soda provides a volunteer buddy scheme to help members access events and activities, workshops to help aspiring DJs and musicians, regular social gatherings and live events, at which members can perform and practise their skills. Through the FUSE initiative they partner with other local Croydon charities, Slide Dance and Turf Projects, to develop and perform at SoDaDA, a regular event that showcases a mix of music, dance and art.

The work Club Soda and its partners do has genuinely transformed my son's social life and wellbeing and it is my honour, and that of the members of our golf club, to do what we can to support them in the fantastic work they do
