This September, 4 of us from Echospace, Kontor, Kinney Green & Levy Real Estate are getting on their bikes for a 500km cycle from London to Amsterdam, travelling through the UK, France, Belgium and finally into Holland, before finishing in Amsterdam.

We’re taking on the challenge as part of Echospace's internal CIC, LoveWhereYouWork, to raise money for Classrooms in the Clouds (CITC) in Nepal.

CITC’s mission is to improve educational outcomes in the Lower Solu Khumbu region of Nepal, a poor rural area where getting an education remains a major challenge.

They focus on early-years education, helping create a strong foundation for future learning. CITC currently sponsors 27 teachers, supported by four senior staff who visit them and help with their professional development. They also build high-quality, earthquake-resistant classrooms to create safe and effective learning environments.

Another important part of their work is tackling gender inequality. CITC only sponsors female teachers, helping address their under-representation in Nepal’s education system. They also provide girls with menstrual health education and reusable period kits, helping remove barriers that can prevent young women from attending school.

When building new classrooms, CITC also provides gender-specific toilets and clean water supplies, giving girls the facilities they need to manage their periods safely and comfortably while at school.

So, while 500km, four countries and several very sore legs might sound like a questionable idea, we’re hoping to turn the challenge into something positive and raise as much as we can for a brilliant cause. 🚴‍♂️💪
