This April, I’m taking on the big one, the TCS London Marathon, in support of Regenerate, a remarkable local youth charity that is genuinely changing lives in our community.

Regenerate is close to my heart because I have seen, first-hand, the difference it makes. Over the past 18 months, my school, Hurlingham, in Putney, has worked alongside Regenerate through fundraising and practical initiatives where our wider school community has given time and service to support local families and young people. Their work is not just meaningful, it is transformational. It provides consistency, care and trusted adult support to young people who need it most, helping them build confidence, resilience and hope.

This year, as a school, we are aiming to raise £30,000 to help fund a full-time youth worker and mentor, someone who can be a steady, positive presence for young people and ensure Regenerate can continue and grow the incredible work they do. By running the London Marathon, I’m hoping to play my part in getting us closer to that target, and to show what can happen when a community rallies around a cause that matters.

Marathon training is a test, physically and mentally, but it pales in comparison to the everyday challenges many young people face. That’s why your support means so much. Every donation, whatever the size, helps Regenerate keep showing up, keep listening, and keep providing the guidance and opportunity that can change a young person’s trajectory.

More about Regenerate:

Regenerate are a local charity working with young people in Roehampton, Putney, and the surrounding areas in South West London.

Regenerate inspires and supports young people by building strong relationships and creating life changing opportunities; helping them grow in confidence, make the best of their lives and impact the world for good. They get to know each young person to uncover their potential and support them as they take part in their 3 different services and move into adult life.

Regenerate’s services provide a safe space and personal support for all young people aged 11-25. They have been working within their community since 2000, and are continuing to promote the personal and social development of young people, providing solutions to the barriers and challenges they face. They run a youth centre as well as outings, residential’s, challenging adventures and volunteering opportunities abroad. They also provide paid jobs, employability skills workshops, mentoring and training to young people who are facing significant barriers to employment, through their social enterprise Feel Good.

Through their work, they are working towards four organisational aims:

-Young people and their communities are safe.

-Young people and families have hope and are empowered.

-Young people have supportive relationships around them.

-Young people find purpose through rewarding employment and positively contributing to society.
