The crossing of South Georgia on skis - in Shackelton's footsteps · 1 November 2023

In a world filled with challenges, our veterans deserve unwavering support and we’re here to provide mental health, employment and care coordination programmes to help them get back on their feet. Join us in shaping a future where veterans thrive and families flourish.

Story

WWTW supports those who have served in the Armed Forces and their families, empowering them to regain their independence, thrive and contribute in our communities. We have adapted and we continue to support our ex-service community during this difficult time. WWTW has worked in partnership with the NHS for many years and during this period we will continue those partnerships to respond wherever possible to support our incredible NHS.

An International team of 10 will land at King Haakon Bay in the North of the island. We will then ski for 4 days with pulk (sledge) via the Murray Snowfield, The Razorback, Compass Glacier, Crean Glacier, the Nineteen-Sixteen Snowfield, Fortuna Glacier, Breakwind Ridge, Fortuna Bay, Shackleton Falls and eventually to Stromness Harbour, where Shackleton, Worsley and Crean were rescued on 20th May 1916.
