Hyrox Event for Exeter Foodbank - Simon Irvin

Simon Irvin is raising money for Exeter Foodbank

Hyrox · 1 May 2026

Exeter Foodbank is a volunteer-led charity with the simple aim of making sure that nobody in the city of Exeter goes to bed hungry. Our motto is 'restoring dignity and reviving hope'. We are part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks

Story

On 1 May, I’ll be heading to Cardiff in the Principality stadium to take on my very first HYROX event — a global indoor fitness race that blends endurance running with functional workout stations.

The race is made up of 8 x 1km runs, each followed by a different workout station:

- 1,000m SkiErg

- 50m sled push (152kg including the sled)

- 50m sled pull (103kg including the sled)

- 80m burpee broad jumps

- 1,000m row

- 200m farmer’s carry with two 24kg kettlebells

- 100m sandbag lunges with a 20kg sandbag

- 100 wall ball squats with a 6kg ball to a 10-ft target

I am competing to raise funds for a local charity, Exeter Foodbank, my work's chosen charity for 2026-27. Exeter Foodbank provide emergency food and compassionate support to people in crisis across the local community with the demand for their services continues to grow.

Any donations would be appreciated and the added bonus, the company I work for, Westcotts, match-funds donations, so your contribution can go even further.
