Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. This cause means a huge amount to our family, and every donation, message of support, shared post, or kilometre joined really does make a difference.
Stick ’n’ Step has become a very special part of our lives. Our daughter, Zahara, has cerebral palsy, and for the past three years she has attended Stick ’n’ Step for specialist support and therapy. During that time, we have seen how much it has helped her grow in confidence, understand her disability, develop new skills, and take important steps towards becoming more independent.
As parents, it has also given us something incredibly valuable: reassurance, guidance, and a community of people who understand the challenges and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small it may seem to others. Places like Stick ’n’ Step do not just provide therapy — they give children and families hope, encouragement, and the belief that progress is always possible.
Stick ’n’ Step is a local charity based in Runcorn and Wallasey, supporting children with cerebral palsy through conductive education and specialist therapy. We have seen first-hand the difference this amazing charity makes, not only for Zahara, but for so many other children and families who rely on its support. As with all charities the financial challenge is becoming harder each year.
That is why I am taking on one of the biggest personal challenges I have ever attempted. After recently recovering from injury and illness, this will not be easy, but knowing what I am doing it for will keep me going. Starting on 16 September, I will run 1km on the first day with 2km increments every day reaching a peak of 25km on day 13 then coming back down from 24km with 2km decrements before finishing off with the Chester Metric Marathon and doing 26.2km on the 26th day: 1km on day 1
3km on day 2
5km on day 3
7km on day 4
9km on day 5
11km on day 6
13km on day 7
15km on day 8
17km on day 9
19km on day 10
21km on day 11
23km on day 12
25km on day 13
24km on day 14
22km on day 15
20km on day 16
18km on day 17
16km on day 18
14km on day 19
12km on day 20
10km on day 21
8km on day 22
6km on day 23
4km on day 24
2km on day 25
26.2km on day 26
There may be times when I might have to do a couple of runs a day to make up the distance - but we will get there.
This challenge is going to test me physically, mentally and logistically with having a job and family responsibilities, but every step will be for the children supported by Stick ’n’ Step, and for the families who depend on the care, encouragement, and opportunities this charity provides.
I would love for people to get involved along the way. You do not have to be a runner, just to get involved and take out of your day to do a run or a walk. Of course if you would like to donate, this would be so well received.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. It means more than we can put into words, and together we can help Stick ’n’ Step continue giving children like Zahara the chance to grow, achieve, and shine.
