Simon's fundraiser for Carli Lansley Foundation

Simon Lock is raising money for Carli Lansley Foundation

Ironman Hamburg · 1 June 2025

We provide free ECG screenings to young people (aged 14-35) in the Southend area to help detect any previously undiagnosed heart conditions. We also fund the installation of defibrillators in prime locations in the local community

Story

So here we are- the finale, my last big event to raise awareness & a few Pounds for the Carli Lansley Foundation.

On Sunday 1st June, I've signed up for Ironman Hamburg, a triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, into a 110 mile bike ride and, finally, a full marathon.

This is my last, big hoorah- the knees, hips (and the hips don't lie) and my marriage can’t take another event that needs 13+hours a week training.

The important bit- the charity. The Carli Lansley Foundation was set-up by a friend, Karl Lansley, the widower of Carli, after his Wife sadly died in her sleep from an undiagnosed heart condition. Her passing left two young children without a mum. Karl has dedicated his life to helping prevent more people going through this tragedy.

The charity provides FREE heart-screening to anyone aged 14-35. The screening stats are eye-opening and repeated- 1 in 20 tested are referred on for further examination.

My first ask. If you, your kids, family members or friends are in the 14-35 age bracket, PLEASE, click on the link below, get booked in and get tested. This is why I fundraise, get the peace of mind that your heart is all-ok:

2025 is already fully booked; commit to 2026.

Secondly, the Ironman is really, REALLY going to hurt. I know times are tough, but if you can spare a couple of Pounds, maybe a note, every donation makes a real world difference to someone. Every single Penny goes to the Charity's work.

Thank you for reading this and thank you for any support you can provide. I will keep you updated over the next couple of weeks as the training reaches its peak.
