Story
From the 5th of June I will be taking on a gruelling four day cycling challenge in the French Pyrenees that involves nearly 500km of distance but more importantly 8,000 metres of climbing. As the organisers said "if we don't make it difficult then people won't be minded to sponsor". Rest assured what they have organised is more difficult than last year and even our support team, who happen to live in the Pyrenees, said that we are mad when they saw the route for the second day. Day 2 involves 3,300m of climbing, including three legendary Cols, culminating with the Tourmalet. There is little respite since the next day has 1,500m of climbing in store. With the weather having been so bad this year, training is far from on track so rest assured I will be suffering for our chosen cause, Laureus Sport for Good.
Founded under the Patronage of Nelson Mandela, Laureus Sport for Good uses sport as a powerful and cost-effective tool to help children and young people overcome violence, discrimination and disadvantage in their lives. Today, Laureus Sport for Good is supporting more than 200 programmes in 40 countries.
