Story
Last year, an old friend of mine left home on a Saturday morning and never came home. I'm raising money with the hope that another person in his position may have options available to them that he, unfortunately, did not. Doing UTS50 last year, I raised close to £2,000 and, at the end of that, swore I'd never do something so hard again. Fast forward a year, and I have instead signed up to run twice as far with twice as many mountain climbs!
I am running the UTS100, which is 105k with over 6,500m of Welsh mountains to contend with, so with close to 24 hours of non-stop running, it is going to be a huge effort! Hopefully, my suffering (which I do of my own accord) will also have the added benefit that I can raise funds for a brilliant charity.
At James' Place, our mission is to stop men dying by suicide. Yet, in the UK suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 50. We believe that no man should face a suicidal crisis alone. James' Place provides free, professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.
