Story
Just under 2 years ago, in November 2023, I woke up unable to walk. Within 24 hours I was paralysed in intensive care on life support with a ventilator where I stayed for a month at Royal Bournemouth hospital. In total, I spent 3 months in hospital. I was diagnosed with Gillian Barre Syndrome (GBS), which is basically your immune system attacking your nervous system. Like an electric wire being stripped off its plastic coating. Hence the paralysis. With the help of NHS physios and nurses I had to learn how to walk again. Since leaving hospital, I have been working with Jamie Whisken to build my strength . Since January this year, I’ve been running 5kms runs. I’ve now set myself the crazy challenge of running half a marathon on 12th October!!! I want to give back to Royal Bournemouth Hospital and help fellow sufferers. Your donation would be gratefully appreciated.
