Story
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK), the UK’s leading dementia research charity.
I’m doing this for my dad.
Five years ago, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Today, he lives in a care home where he’s safe and happy in familiar surroundings. But the journey has been painful. My dad was a Design teacher for nearly 35 years; a maker, a creator, and the life and soul of any room. He thrived on social connection and loved building things with his hands.
Now, even simple LEGO models and conversations are a struggle
Alzheimer’s is a cruel and debilitating disease. It slowly takes away the very things that make us who we are. That’s why I’m running 26.2 miles to raise awareness, to honour my dad, and to help fund the research that will one day lead to a cure.
Please support me and Alzheimer’s Research UK. Every donation brings us closer to a future free from dementia.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Cheers
Simon
