Story

**UPDATE - 8 February 2024**

Not only has our fundraising team grown and Team Tyke is no longer about just one event, other events have now been added with a view to raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.

In April 2023 we lost Richard at the age of just 46 to Cancer. Richard was connected to us all in many different ways. To us he was a father, a son, a brother, an uncle and a cousin. To others he was a good friend, affectionately known as "Tyke".

We all want to do as much as we can to help stamp out this terrible killer that cuts people down in the prime of their life. "Team Tyke" has been set up for the whole family to raise money in Richard’s memory.

EVENT 1 (The BIG Weekend!)

On Saturday 27th April 2024, Simon will be taking part in a Back-Yard Ultra Marathon hosted by Rivington Run Club. This is a 12 hour endurance event using back-yard rules. Runners must complete a 4 mile loop, on the hour, every hour or until they wish to stop. The route will not be shared until the day of the race.

EVENT 2

On Sunday 28th April 2024, Richard's sister [Jane], her husband Matt and their daughter Emily are swimming 200 lengths of their local pool to complete this years Team 5K Swimathon.

EVENT 3

On 9th June 2024 Jane, Matt and Emily will be joined by Harry and Josh as they all take on the Race for Life 5k in Milton Keynes.

While this is a warm up for some people, this will be a challenge for others.

EVENT 4

On Friday 26th July 2024 Simon will be taking part in the Lakeland 100 ultra-marathon. He will have 40 hours to complete the 105 mile course.

WITH OUR THANKS

It is never easy asking others for donations, especially during a cost of living crisis, so any donation will be very gratefully received. Your support will be invaluable as we undertake these challenges. Thank you ♥️
