Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Simon, and a group of staff from St.Mary’s Catholic Primary School, are running the Bath Half in memory of Will, Simon and Ann’s son, who tragically died, aged 23, in 2022 from SADS (Sudden arrhythmic Death Syndrome).

Will is greatly missed by those who knew him. We are now trying to raise money for CRY to help prevent this tragedy from happening to so many other families.

CRY is a wonderful charity working to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through raising awareness, carrying out genetic research, offering support and counselling to bereaved families and running cardiac screening days in memory of young people who have lost their lives.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

In 2023 we raised enough money for a screening to take place here in Newbridge. We are trying to raise funds for another cardiac screening event for young people in Bath. We need to raise £7,000 in order to fund this screening.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

Simon and Ann are so grateful for the team of runners and for everyone sponsoring them. It means so much to us to raise money in memory of our wonderful Will. Thank you.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
