Simon Cycles the World to protect nature - Every £100 donated protects 1 acre of threatened land

Simon Jones is raising money for World Land Trust

Cycling around the world and climbing a mountain on each continent I visit. Starts · 26 April 2026

World Land Trust protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre. Through a network of partner organisations around the world, WLT funds the creation of reserves and provides permanent protection for habitats and wildlife.

Story

At age 45 I've quit my job of 20 years as a commercial lawyer. I want to see the world and do something to help restore and protect our beautiful planet.

Starting in April 2026, I'll be cycling approximately 35,000km around the world, climbing a mountain on each continent and visiting World Land Trust ("WLT") conservation projects en route.

WLT support their local partners to acquire, permanently protect and actively conserve threatened land to safeguard biodiversity and the climate.

To date, WLT has funded the protection of over 2.9 million acres of threatened ecosytems, the planting of more than 3.1 million trees and the protection of over 13,066 species.

Every £100 donated funds the acquisition, protection and conservation of (on average) 1 acre of threatened land.

The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of." Sir David Attenborough
