Story
I will be taking on this amazing challenge with my two best friends, trekking 50 km across the Sahara Desert in Morocco to raise vital funds for the Hospice of St. Francis.
The days will be trekking across sand dunes in approx 40 degree heat and camping under the stars in potentially freezing temperatures at night. No running water or electricity, just camels to help us carry our essentials!
We are funding our own costs for the trek so 100% of donations go direct to the hospice.
Why!?…….
My mum spent some time at the Hospice following treatment for sepsis whilst living with partial paralysis and dementia. The hospital had advised us that mum had a couple of weeks left at most and was not eating. The Hospice looked after her so well, even encouraging mum to eat again enabling her to be moved to a dementia nursing home where she is now. Our family believe without the kindness and care of the Hospice, mum would not still be with us.
The Hospice relies on donations to raise the £6m they need each year to fund free care. Your support is ever more important, as NHS funding covers less than 20% of our running costs.
