Simunix is fundraising for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity

Simunix Ltd is raising money for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
OSCAR's PBTC was set up in memory of Oscar Hughes, a 9-year-old who died of a brain tumour in 2014. His journey was heartbreaking yet inspiring. OSCAR's aims to provide support and care to children with brain tumours, raise awareness to help diagnosis and fund research into better treatments.

Story

Please support Simunix Ltd in the Yorkshire Marathon Relay 2024 for OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity

Event Date: 20th October 2024

Six runners from our team will be hitting the roads, each aiming to complete a leg of the marathon relay.

Jacqui

I used to run occasionally to fundraise for charity. I started running properly during Covid, when I could not go to the gym. I enjoy running as I find it helps my mental health and is a great way to keep fit. I mostly run 5km’s, and enjoy participating in parkrun events. It’s a privilege to run for such a worthwhile cause.

Colin

I'll be taking on the short leg of 5kms in Simunix's team relay. I am not particularly fond of running, so I'm glad to have been offered the short leg! The training isn't easy, but the cause is what pushes me forward; my motivation stems from supporting OSCARs. After hearing about their incredible work, I was moved to tears. The help and the support they provide to children is truly inspiring.

Emma

I'm incredibly moved by OSCAR's cause and the difference they can make to the lives of children. They will inspire me to give my all in the relay. I'll be running the opening 7km leg, and I'm looking forward to the buzz around York city centre. Since taking up running during COVID, I’ve completed 10k, 10-mile races, and even the Great North Run. I also love going to my local parkrun (and some further afield)! It's an honour to run for such a meaningful cause.

John

I first learned about OSCAR's charity when one of my son's colleagues ran the Yorkshire 10-mile race to support his younger brother, who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour at just 21. Hearing more stories of families facing similar challenges deeply moved me, making it an easy decision to choose OSCAR's as our charity. As a keen runner, I’ve taken part in 5k, 10k, 10-mile, half marathon, and marathon races. I'm especially excited about this marathon, knowing I can contribute without having to run the entire distance!

Laura

I’d known about Oscar's charity for a while and was deeply moved by their incredible work, especially as a parent. When the opportunity came up to support them, I knew I had to get involved. I admit I'm more of a fair-weather runner, often needing a bit of motivation to get started, but I always enjoy it once I’m out there! I like doing the occasional Parkrun and even completed the York 10K last summer.

Matt

Hearing about the families supported by OSCAR is truly inspiring, and I’m excited to be part of the team. I'll be running an uphill leg of the relay—good thing I enjoy running! I’ve previously competed in the York 10K and the Great North Run, and most recently achieved my goal of completing an Olympic-distance triathlon.

Thank you for your generosity and support!
