Story
I will be running the London Marathon on 26th April 2026 in memory of my wonderful Dad, and brilliant Grandad, who we love and miss dearly.
I am raising money for Princess Alice Hospice. Princess Alice cared for my Dad with a level of compassion and dignity that words can hardly capture.
Dad heartbreakingly died in April 2025. During his last months, the enhanced support team and night response team from Princess Alice Hospice helped us care for Dad. They will be forever my angels.
Dad was a great character and the team at Princess Alice quickly worked this out.
In his final months, the team would visit Dad at home and care for him with comfort, respect, and love. Their care was not just medical—it was deeply human and profoundly kind.
The hospice provides vast support to both patients and family members at various stages of life. From the wellbeing centre to palliative care (both inpatients and people in the community), emotional support and bereavement support.
We never know when we, family members or friends might need the support of wonderful charities like Princess Alice.
I have set an ambitious fundraising target and I would really appreciate your support for this wonderful charity.
Every pound makes a difference.
This is a big challenge for me (and one of my three brothers) and we know that Dad will be immensely proud. We will embrace marathon day and I’ve no doubt Dad will be there with us, helping us get to the finish line whilst we listen to his favourite songs by the legendary Declan Nerney and Big Tom.
I started training in the summer of 2025. Running in memory of my Dad hits different. No wall will be too hard to push through.
A huge thank you to Theresa, Anne, Rhianna, Sally-Anne, Rebecca, Sharon, Karen, Mandy, Camilla, Catherine and all the team.
To Dr Bazari, Dr Pearse, Father Sebastian and their teams, thank you. To all the district nurses and matrons, thank you. Thank you for all that you did over the last year(s).
Thank you for taking the time to read this page and a big thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Sinead xx
