Story
On 4th October, I’m abseiling down the Europa Hotel to raise money for the Northern Ireland Music Therapy Trust.
Which is slightly unfortunate, because I’m scared of heights.
But I’ve never been one to shy away from something that scares me – particularly when there’s a good reason for doing it.
I joined the Northern Ireland Music Therapy Trust as a trustee because I wanted to make a difference, and the more I’ve seen of the work they do, the more I believe in it.
Music therapy can reach people in ways that words sometimes simply can’t. It can help someone communicate, reconnect with memories, build confidence, express what they’re feeling or connect with the people around them.
The Trust works with children, young people and adults across Northern Ireland whose lives have been affected by illness, injury, disability and difficult life events – delivering more than 6,500 hours of music therapy every year.
It’s extraordinary work, and I’m really proud to play a small part in supporting it.
So, on 4th October, I’ll be standing at the top of the Europa, presumably questioning every life choice that led me there, before climbing over the edge.
If you’d like to make the terrifying bit worthwhile, I’d absolutely love your support.
Every donation, big or small, helps more people access this incredible therapy.
Thank you ❤️
