Story
In 2011 a small group of us cycled the length of the South Downs in a day, starting in Winchester at 5am and finishing in Eastbourne at around half past midnight. It was 104 miles offroad, very tough and I said never again.
Last year, a dear friend of mine Joff was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This is along with prominent athletes including rugby legends Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow, Ed Slater, Lewis Moody, and footballer Stephen Darby.
This condition ends careers and lives.
So, here we are in need of a big event to raise some much needed funds for the motor neurone disease association and a trip back to the South Downs.
To spice it up a little, In June, I’m going to do the same route in a day but this time, on a single speed bike (which is a bike without any gears to help with the hills). Honestly, I’m not even sure I can do it. The route climbs nearly half the height of Everest over 100 miles. It’s going to be a very long and very tough day.
The event is called SingleMNDed
Any donations would really help.
Thank you.
Paul
