Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
I'm taking part in Manchester Half Marathon on 13th October to raise awareness and funds for Cavernoma Alliance UK. The charity was founded in 2005, with the aim of providing support and information for all those affected by cavernoma including friends, family, carers and professionals.
I became aware of cavernoma through a friend who has the condition. One of the big challenges is that it's not widely understood and doesn't have the same profile as some other conditions. It's really tough seeing the effect it has on him and his family, and highlights how vitally important it is for those affected by cavernoma to have access to information and support.
A cavernoma is a cluster of abnormal blood vessels, usually found in the brain and spinal cord and often does not cause symptoms When symptoms do occur they can include: bleeding (haemorrhage), fits (seizures), headaches, neurological problems, such as dizziness, slurred speech (dysarthria), double vision, balance problems and tremor, weakness, numbness, tiredness, memory problems and difficulty concentrating.
I would be very grateful for any donation you are able to make to this worthwhile cause.
