Story
Hey all, my name is Siobhán and I've signed up to take on the EU Kilimanjaro 2026 Student starting on Thursday 20th of August 2026.
I'm raising money to support EU Meningitis Research Foundation, and my goal is to raise €5980.
This challenge is not just about pushing myself outside of my comfort zone - it's about making a difference too! Every donation, big or small, will help me reach my target and support EU Meningitis Research Foundation's important work.
Thank you so much for your support, Siobhán
What is meningitis?
Meningitis is the inflammation of the meninges, the protective lining around the brain and spinal cord, often caused by infections. Septicemia, or blood poisoning, is also caused by these germs.
Both Meningitis and Septicemia are serious conditions that can lead to death or long-term disability within hours.
While it is often assumed that only babies and toddlers are at the highest risk, university students are also placed at high risk due to the fact that symptoms can disguise themselves as a hangover or even the fresher's flu.
