Hello friends,

Let me tell you a little about why I'm supporting Breast Cancer Now.... When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2022, I remember having so many questions...I wanted to know everything — every possible option, every scenario, every treatment, all the side effects, the long-term statistics, ... very quickly I learnt that cancer can come in so many shapes and forms, and only a small fraction of all the information available applied to me.

Over the following months and year, we took things one step at a time — me, my trusted notepad, my ever growing yellow folder and my rock of a husband. Gaining knowledge gave me a sense of control and helped me make conscious decisions, on what felt right for me.

The NHS, and especially the Breast Care Unit were outstanding throughout my journey. They were the ones who introduce me to BCN. This wonderful organisation has created an immensely rich library of breast-cancer-specific information. As I progressed through my treatment, I found myself returning to their website again and again, to better understand what I was going through.

And then I discovered their page "Someone Like Me". At a time when I was lost in a chemo-brain fog and facing life changing decisions, this service was truly invaluable. I was able to speak with volunteers, who had gone through the specific treatments I was considering. They shared their experience so openly and compassionately — it help me more than I can ever express.

I am forever grateful. And that is why I will be running the London Marathon: to support their incredible work and to thank them for everything they have done for me.
