Story
On 17th June our group of 6 bicycle loving friends are taking on the biggest challenge any of us have ever attempted, to ride from the West coast of Scotland to the Northumberland coast in a day!
The “Frontier 300” Is an epic 185mile cycle ride from Rockcliffe on the shores of the Irish Sea in Scotland to Druridge Bay on the North Sea coast and will take us anything between 16-20 hours….or maybe even more 😲.
What started out in January as a quick conversation and a "sure, why not?" has suddenly become a reality and after a few hundred miles in the saddle, numerous early morning and all day training rides plus copious amounts of painkillers, massage guns and the patient support of our “nearest & dearest”, we’re hoping that we’re finally ready.
Sadly for a number of us taking part, the risk and reality of Cancer is all too painfully familiar so riding in aid of Cancer Research UK seemed a charity that we could all get behind. We know that the physical challenge of the day will be huge but with your support and knowing that every gear grinding mile means we’re playing our small part in supporting life-saving research towards beating cancer might just be the help we’ll need to get us accross the finish line.
The route is close to a 50:50 split of tarmac and forest roads but it’s not just the physical challenge that’s facing us, the logistics are equally as daunting. Driving to the finish line on Friday 16th, a shuttle bus across the country to the Start line, a night under canvas and then a 4.30am start on Saturday 17th awaits us.
If everything goes to plan we’re hoping we’ll finish around 18hrs later on the Northumberland coast.
Please help support us in any way you can.
