Jen and Adam Sixsmith: Fundraising for Huntington's Disease Association

Jennifer Sixsmith is raising money for Huntington's Disease Association

Edinburgh Marathon 2025 · 25 May 2025 ·

Huntington's Disease Association England and Wales exists to support anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease. It pursues the best possible care; provides training and advice to families and professionals; raises awareness, and promotes research towards better treatment and care.

Story

As some of you may know, our good friend Shaun was recently diagnosed with Huntington’s disease (HD). While not a common condition, it is profoundly challenging for those it affects and their families. Shaun tragically lost his dad to Huntington’s in March 2021. If you’d like to learn more about HD you can find detailed information here: “What is HD”

Adam and I have known Shaun and his wonderful wife Jess for many years, and we want to do what we can to support them and their daughter through this difficult time. HD is a genetic condition with a 50% chance of inheritance, and currently, there is no cure and only limited treatment options available.

To raise awareness and hopefully some funds for the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA), Adam and I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon on May 25th, 2025.*

Every penny raised through Justgiving will go directly to the HDA, supporting vital research and care for those living with HD and their families. Any contribution, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated**.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer. We are incredibly grateful.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on our progress, with an update on the big day!

*Note from Jen: “You might know that I enjoy running…normally. But a marathon is a whole new challenge. This training has been more time-consuming, gruelling, and demanding than I ever imagined.”

**Please be aware that JustGiving adds an optional platform tip when you donate, which can be adjusted or removed before you complete your donation
