Running the ASICS|LDNx 10K for My Grandma and Alzheimer's Research UK
On 11 October, I will be lacing up my running shoes to take on my first-ever official race at the ASICS|LDNX 10K.
While crossing that finish line is important to me, this journey is driven by a purpose bigger than fitness.
I am raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a charity leading the charge to find a cure for dementia.
Why This Cause Means Everything to Me
This cause hits incredibly close to home. My grandma who helped raise me, shape who I am, and build the foundation of my life, is currently living with dementia.
By coincidence, the ASICS 10K route literally runs through the very same streets she picked me up from school. Running this particular event, in this area, feels like a beautiful, full-circle moment.
Every Step is For Her
Dementia is a heartbreaking disease that takes away precious memories and independence, affecting not just the individual but the entire family. Watching someone who gave you everything battle this condition is incredibly tough.
Knowing that I am running this race for her will be the ultimate motivation to keep going. Every single step I take on that course is dedicated to her.
How You Can Help
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity.
Together we will revolutionise the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. But we will not stop there.
With your support, we will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia. We exist for a cure.
