Story
Every day, thousands of peoples quality of life is devastated by the lack of support and advice on the prevention of lower leg and foot conditions and the failure to correctly diagnose and treat them. But this shouldn’t be the end of everything. They are still people and matter and never forgotten in my eyes. This is why I have chosen to fundraise for the charity Legs Matter because it shouldn’t be ignored.
I will be taking on a 25k halloween walk on October the 31st around Oval in the city. This will be in memory to a wonderful women who I loved very much and around what would have been her 80th birthday. Please take the time to donate and or share. Fancy dress suggestions are welcome…
Non-healing wounds of the leg and foot are one of the biggest health challenges of our time. Lymphoedema, swelling of limbs and fluid that can in some cases sadly take over the body making it incredibly difficult to walk are one of the many conditions. People have such busy lives and never stop to think why someone isn’t coming out, or why that person is no longer mobile. Everyone has a right to good-quality lower leg and foot care that promotes healing and reduces the risk of harm be it the smallest thing. We need to improve awareness, understanding and treatment of lower leg and foot conditions. Take a stand for more research, take a stand faster treatment, take a stand for that person with diabetes and the dodgy foot who worked all there life and now can’t because of it. Take a stand for the people who get looked at on the street and feel they can’t go out in fear people will stare! Take a stand for that hairdresser with the varicose veins and the legs that ache from deep thrombosis's. Normalise wheel chair access, old or young this could be anybody one day.
