Story
On 4 March 2023, our beautiful and happy Freddie suddenly died, aged 13 months, from sepsis, after contracting invasive Group A Strep. Words cannot describe the hole in our lives, left by Fred. He was truly the merriest, brightest and chattiest boy.
The loss of a child is something no-one should ever have to experience. Imogen and Stu have found a way to move forward, taking Freddie with us, thanks to bereavement counselling and the support of The Lullaby Trust. The charity's befriending service has been crucial to our journey through 2023 and into 2024. Their befriending volunteers are bereaved parents, over 4 years past their own loss and therefore able to provide support and reassurance, in a way that no-one else can. Imogen and Stu’s befrienders have been amazing. The Lullaby Trust befriending service offers support to grandparents and other relations, not just parents. It's such a special volunteering service. In time to come, we would be honoured to become befrienders ourselves. The charity’s bereavement support team has been incredibly kind and reassuring, staffed by fellow bereaved parents.
Freddie's 2nd birthday should have been on 31 January. We wanted to find a way to make a positive contribution in his memory, between this date and the first anniversary of losing him. The Lullaby Trust's February Fifty challenges us to cover 50k in this month, so throughout February Stu, Imogen, Martin, Linda, Becky and Chris will be walking, running and golfing our way to the target. We would be very grateful for any donations along the way, to support this fantastic charity.
The Lullaby Trust raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), provides expert advice on safer sleep for babies and offers emotional support for bereaved families.
With all our love and thanks,
Imogen and Stu
