Story
In recent years, family, friends, family of friends and friends of friends have received the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis. Hearing and seeing the impact compelled us to use our ballot marathon places and Guinness World Record attempt to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Having previously run marathons for personal achievement, we wanted to try a different challenge over 26.2 miles. When we both received ballot places for the London Marathon 2025 it felt like it was meant to be.
We started planning what could be possible and settled on a 'double act' costume. While researching Guinness World Records, we discovered one that hasn't yet been set: Fastest marathon in a two-person costume (female).
After a rigorous application process, our costume was approved.
We are running as Slinky the toy sausage dog (complete with spring) from Toy Story. Our adventure is still evolving as we train in a furry costume that really isn't designed for running!
However hard it gets, we remind ourselves that we are privileged to be able to take part in this slightly crazy venture.
Macmillan Cancer Support gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe, JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
