Every three minutes, a child is born with a cleft condition that affects their health and future. Operation Smile is a global nonprofit, founded in Virginia Beach, committed to bridging the gap in access to essential surgeries and care, starting with cleft surgery and comprehensive care. We provide care for patients and educational programs for health workers in 37 countries.

Running may be an individual sport, but the Shamrock Marathon Weekend is all about empowering a community. The Miles for Smiles team brings Operation Smile’s hometown together to strengthen our impact locally and globally, with each member raising at least $240—covering the cost of one surgery. As we work hard to bring care closer to home for our patients around the world, we’re proud to celebrate the community that’s supported us from the very beginning.
