Story
Last year, after years of threatening to enter the Hackney Half Marathon, my bluff was called.
I didn't die, and in a fit of masochism, I've signed myself up to run again.
In 2024, I ran for the Alzheimer's Society, and whilst dementia is still a bastard, this year I'm running for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
Many of you will know that our eldest daughter, Adelaide, was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate. CLAPA has supported us every step of the way, from our meetings with a specialist cleft nurse at Great Ormond Street before she was even born, through multiple operations to repair gaps in her lip, cleft palate and gum. More recently, they've hosted her on weekends away, spending time with other kids who have been through similar things, and who have all benefited from the support of this vital charity.
I know this isn't as popular a cause as Alzheimer's/Dementia, and it probably hasn't touched your life directly in ways that those afflictions have, but please donate whatever you can, to help CLAPA, but also to see if I can survive a second half marathon.
