Story
At Shaken Not Stirred, we believe in the power of community, creativity, and compassion. Thorugh our series of events this year, including the James Bond community 5-A-Side football tournament, and our flagship James Bond weekend at the pinewood hotel, we aim not only to raise vital funds for MediCinema but to amplify awareness of how even small acts of generosity can transform hospital stays into moments of hope, joy, and dignity.
We are excited to announce that throughout 2026, Shaken Not Stirred will be raising funds for MediCinema, with all proceeds from our events dedicated to supporting their vital work. Our main fundraising highlight will be our James Bond weekend in October, hosted at the Pinewood Hotel from Friday 23rd October to Sunday 25th October. We invite you, your guests, and supporters to join us in making a difference.
Why MediCinema?
MediCinema is a unique UK charity that installs and operates state-of-the-art cinemas inside hospitals, enabling patients, families and staff to enjoy cinematic experiences in a medically safe environment—at no cost to the NHS.
Their mission is to improve the emotional, mental and physical wellbeing of NHS patients through the power of shared cinema experiences, giving them a moment of normality, connection, escape, and human joy while in hospital.
What They Do — A Snapshot
MediCinema designs and operates cinema spaces specifically adapted to accommodate hospital beds, wheelchairs, medical equipment, and patient needs.
Their “Core Inpatient Screening Programme” ensures a minimum of four screenings per week at each site, with films chosen to appeal across age groups.
They also run tailored screenings (for clinical support groups, mental health programmes, etc.) and personal screenings for patients unable to leave their wards.
They rely entirely on donations and fundraising to cover the costs—screenings are free to patients and bear no cost to NHS trusts.
Impact & Statistics
In 2024, MediCinema welcomed over 17,500 attendees at its screenings.
Recent surveys show 93% of attendees say the MediCinema experience reduces stress and anxiety, 94% say it reduces feelings of isolation, and 91% report it helps coping / supports mental health.
According to their most recent financial reports, MediCinema’s charitable expenditure in one year was approximately £672,000, with reserves and future allocations held at ~£1.91 million.
They have staff, trustees and many volunteers: 20 employees, 9 trustees and around 140 volunteers. In recognition of their work, MediCinema was awarded the “Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema” honour at the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards.
These numbers only begin to capture the human stories behind them: for many patients and family members, a visit to MediCinema offers a mental respite, a chance to feel “normal,” and a meaningful moment of connection during what can be one of the hardest periods of their lives.
We invite all attendees, sponsors, performers, volunteers, and donors to join us in this mission: to bring the magic of cinema into hospitals, to brighten lives, and to support healing—not just medically, but emotionally and spiritually. With your support, we hope to make 2025 a landmark year for generosity and impact.
