In memory of Ria and Ryan

Campaign by Brain Tumour Research (RCN 1153487 (England & Wales), SC046840 (Scotland))
We have set up Raising4Ria under the umbrella of national charity Brain Tumour Research to raise awareness and more importantly help to improve outcomes for brain tumour patients and ultimately find a cure. Please donate whatever you can.

Story

On July 11 we will be taking on Yorkshire 3 peaks in memory of Ria and Ryan who both lost their lives to a Brain Tumour.

Ria bravely endured multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and private immunotherapy in Germany before sadly passing away in August 2021 at just 25.

Ryan was diagnosed in 2017 and made a remarkable recovery, going on to marry his wife Meg and become a proud dad to their daughter Mia. Tragically, the cancer returned, and Ryan passed away in December 2024 at the age of 27, leaving behind his 3-year-old daughter.

Ria and Ryan’s strength have left a lasting impact on everyone who knew them.

Their stories are a powerful reminder of the urgent need for more research. Brain tumours receive less than 1% of national cancer funding, despite being the most common cancer in people under 40.

The Team:

Carol Melvin – Ria’s Mum

Paul & Sarah Hughes – Ryan’s Parents

Richard, Gus & Chlo Gough – Ryan’s Family

Sofie Armitage, Amy Longhurst, Sacha Brinkley, Lily Tyrimos, Jess Howard-Bourne, Dannielle Howard-Bourne, Rebecca Hopkins, Alice Hassall, Aofie Hurley, Danni Jackson, Helena Scotland, Kelsey Phillips & Becky Langley - Ria’s close friends

💙 Every donation, share, and word of support helps us keep their memories alive and make a real difference in the fight against brain tumours.

Thank you!

Raising4Ria has been set up as a Brain Tumour Research Fundraising Group by Ria's family to help raise as much money as they possibly can to help fund brain cancer research.
