SOL 172, 2024 - Climbing Ben Nevis 4 times in 24 hours

Climbing Ben Nevis 4 times in 24 hours · 20 June 2024
Last year, we set about completing the National Three Peaks challenge in just under 24 hours. We pulled it off with only 15 minutes to spare after adverse weather lead to a change in course that had us pushing as hard as we could on the final ascent. With that, we began the tradition that is Sol 172 - an annual endurance challenge that gives our training a focus, torments our loving families, raises money for a charity of our choosing, and celebrates the Summer Solstice.
Having completed three peaks last year, we saw fit to add another. We agreed to tackle Ben Nevis, Britain's highest peak, because it's the highest, and because our families wanted to sort of enjoy a break away to Fort William. With our trusted and hardy support crew (our wives and babies), we will be doing all that we can to get up and down that rather large hill 4 times in 24 hours, starting early on June 20th.
That's 5380 meters of elevation in total. 42 miles. In light, in dark, and probably all weathers.
This year, we're raising money for Scottish Sports Futures again. We chose to raise money for them as we have always felt that our foundations in sport have brought about everything that's good in us. SSF takes sports and exercise and brings it to young people who may never have that opportunity without them, raising their confidence, and boosting their leadership skills along the way.
We're aiming to raise £2268, as last year we raised about £567 per peak. You can do the math, go on.
Please donate as much as you generously can. If not for the love of what sport and exercise can do, then at least for the love of the photos and videos of us crawling up the Ben!
