Me and the boys at work have gone and arranged to ascend the Atlas Mountains and top Mount Toubkal this September.

I’m no hiker, but this is all in efforts to raise money for Lighthouse - an underdog of the current construction industry.

Lighthouse is a charity house supporting the mental, physical, and financial wellbeing of thousands of construction workers and our families across the U.K.

You might be familiar with construction statistics:-

- the risk of suicide in construction workers was at an average of 3.7x higher than the national average in 2020.

- in the 2022/23 season, ill mental health - with examples of anxiety and stress - contributed to up to 50% of all cases of work-related ill health, costing the industry over £56bn annually.

It’s worth noting that if any of these feelings feel familiar, Lighthouse’s website offers a wide range of wellbeing techniques and education free for the general public to access.

With the fundraising, we aim to support Lighthouse in their efforts to help individuals escape vicious financial cycles, give a listening ear, and add years on the lives of those on the verge of giving up.

If our plea only pushes you to check in on your mates, then this has done its job.
