Story
Our fundraising mission: We are raising money for the Family Care Trust which is a dedicated charity based in Solihull, offering professional care and support services for over 25 years to individuals with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and physical disabilities. It aims to empower these individuals to live their lives with dignity, choice and independence through a variety of services, including work-based learning at Newlands Bishop Farm, the Blanning Dementia Day Centre and supported living sites, the Trust supports community members to achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Our Quest: Solihull to Barcelona armed with two very challenged cars, we’re embarking on an epic voyage. The Skinflint rules state a maximum car purchase budget of £500 so we have a £500 BMW X5 that was a £40K car when new but it really isn't new anymore. We also have a 2010 Nissan Qashqai.
Our route winds through iconic locations—Le Mans, La Rochelle, Toulouse, and Andorra. We’ll be cruising the famed N152, a road revered by none other than Jeremy Clarkson himself.
Meet the Team (Solihull and Sheldon Gents): Our eclectic crew includes 8 gents who are looking forward to a great experience. They are Rodney Akkerman, Tom Cosgrove, Nick Fox, Jon King, Gerald Manton, Chris Montgomery, Paul Roscoe and Craig Smith and they might be going dressed as the cast of Only Fools and Horses but more to be revealed later.
We’re not racing; we’re competing in a points-driven challenge to Barcelona. Our scorecard? It’s a wild mix of car decoration, en route photo challenges, dashboard warning lights, breakdown tales, car age, keeper count, and mileage. Wish us luck, we'll need it!
