*Inspiring Hope Through Action* We raise funds to support a range of community conservation programmes and chimp sanctuaries in Africa run by Jane Goodall Institutes. We also empower young changemakers through the delivery of our UK environmental youth programme, Roots & Shoots.

Story

Solihull Prep School is raising money for two amazing charity projects, spearheaded by the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) UK and implemented by JGI South Africa. Like Jane, our pupils are passionate about helping to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment.

The first of these two projects will fund the making of thousands of Eco bricks which will be used in the construction of an Early Childhood Development Centre in a large informal township called Diepsloot, in the heart of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Using Eco bricks in construction will help to reduce litter and plastics in the local area and the carbon footprint of the project by using less concrete. It will also help to considerably reduce the costs of building the centre, which will have 4 classrooms, a kitchen, storeroom, 4 toilets and an office.

The second of our projects in support of Chimp Eden which is situated within the beautiful 1,000-hectare Umhloti Nature Reserve in Nelspruit, South Africa. The Chimpanzee Sanctuary is home to chimps that have been misplaced from their natural habitats in Africa and often mistreated by humans. The sanctuary is proud to be part of the Jane Good Institute, which is a global leader in the effort to conserve and preserve endangered species and habitats, and in particular chimpanzees. We want to fund equipment that will help them continue the high level of care they offer these remarkable animals.

We hope to raise as much as possible during our Charity Week for these two worthy causes. Please support as generously as you are able!
