Story
The theme for Some Voices Summer Term 2025 is 'Anthems For A Changing World' where we're singing to celebrate community, resilience, and the radical idea that we actually are better together.
Every Monday our Kemptown choir rehearses in the wonderful St Mary's Church in Kemptown, Brighton. However, in recent months the church has faced a series of challenges: storm damage to the roof, issues with the church heating systems and even burglary and theft - resulting in further damage. This has left the church with the heavy burden of needing to cover £30,000 in costs just for the heating repairs alone, nevermind the excess of £1000 per claim for the numerous burglary damages.
It's no surprise then, that when they reached out to us for help, that we decided to make St Mary's Emergency Appeal our chosen charity to support this term (more detail on the appeal here). We'll be singing high-energy, heart-lifting songs and getting loud, to support the very venue that gives not only our musical community a home to rehearse in, but sits at the heart of the neighbourhood, providing so many different groups with a safe space to gather together.
All money donated during this term's performances - including our end of term gig at St Mary's itself - as well as at our choir socials, will go to the emergency appeal.
Thank you so much for any support you can give to help St Mary's overcome these challenges and continue to support the communities they serve.
