We are a team of swimmers representing Somerset Counselling Centre. We are completing a swimming challenge to raise money for Somerset Counselling Centre as well as two other local charities, Taunton Women’s Aid and Love Musgrove - ICU neo-natal ward. As a team we must complete as many lengths of the pool as possible in one hour, this is a physical challenge that can become quite competitive as there are several awards for achievements during the event.

Somerset Counselling Centre (SCC) is a charity based in Taunton offering professional, affordable counselling to adults across Somerset. SCC has been part of the community for over 30 years, providing a safe, confidential space where people can talk through life’s challenges with trained, compassionate therapists.

SCC provides individual and couples counselling, as well as a small art and therapy group. What sets SCC apart is that they offer therapy without time limits—clients are free to remain in counselling for as long as they find it helpful. Last year SCC launched their child therapy service for young people aged 11 and over. Despite SCC's long-standing presence, the charity constantly faces financial challenges in sustaining their services, often operating at a deficit. SCC’s work is only possible thanks to the generosity of local businesses, individuals, and organisations. Whether through fundraising events, partnerships, or direct support, every contribution makes a meaningful impact.
