Sonja's Fundraiser for Dorset Mind

Walk 100 miles in May
As a nurse working in an acute hospital, I see all too often adults and children in the midst of a mental health crisis, and I also see the limited support available to them. Usually they just need someone to talk to and Dorset Mind provides this. Ending up in an Emergency Department will help no one, the help needs to come much earlier. Dorset Mind charity educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and encourages recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience.
Their 1-2-1 & group support includes counselling, mentoring, support groups, active monitoring and a befriending service. These help people regain social skills and develop confidence.
The charity also delivers educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation.
