Story
In January 2025, I had a craniotomy to partially remove a benign brain tumour I was diagnosed with only 2 weeks prior. I am immensely grateful to have made an amazing recovery since.
May is Brain Tumour Awareness Month in Australia, and I will be walking 200km throughout the month, to fundraise for Brain Tumour Alliance Australia. I have chosen this charity as they focus on both kinds of brain tumours, both malignant (cancerous) and benign. It is a support and advocacy charity for all brain tumour patients, and their families, friends, and carers.
Whilst brain cancer is obviously a very worth cause to support, the diagnosis of a benign brain tumour can still be immensely confronting, and is not provided as much support compared to those with a malignant brain tumour. All brain tumour patients require a strong support system to navigate these unforeseen challenges, and BTAA can provide this support if needed.
I will continue to update with walking progress throughout the month, as well as some updates regarding my ongoing brain tumour journey, as it has unfortunately grown back since surgery.
Please join me in supporting Brain Tumour Alliance Australia, to support brain tumour patients, and their friends and families.
