Story

Anyone who knows me knows I love running, and the London Marathon has always been on the bucket list, so to get a place in 2025 means the world, but this race is about more than a PB.

On 5th July 2024, my little brother was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, aged just 18. This diagnosis came completely out of the blue, and it's been a life-changing few months since for Sam and our whole family. Thanks to the incredible work of the NHS and charities such as Breakthrough T1D, Sam's adjusting to what this new normal looks like, managing his levels and food intake, daily injections and countless hospital check-ups.

Breakthrough T1D is the leading global type 1 research charity, who are striving to not only make life easier for those living with a diagnosis, but to one day find a cure and make type 1 a thing of the past.

They do this by:

- Funding world-class research approved and administered by an international research programme to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes

- Making sure research moves forward and treatments are delivered as fast as possible

- Giving support and a voice to people with type 1 and their families

- Joining a global movement to create a world without type 1

Every £ raised makes a huge difference, and means so much to me, my brother and our whole family, so please give whatever you can to support me and Breakthrough T1D. Thank you!
