Sophie Crumlin is raising money for Women's Aid ABCLN

Belfast City Marathon · 3 May 2026 ·

One in four women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Women’s Aid ABCLN provides confidential support, information and emergency accommodation for women and children who are affected by domestic abuse across Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey.

Story

Having already told half of the population, I think it is only right to officially announce that I will be running the Belfast City Marathon in May in support of Women’s Aid ABCLN.

Women's Aid is an incredible charity that challenges attitudes, structures and systems which perpetuate domestic abuse. Women's Aid in Northern Ireland is split into 8 local groups with the ABCLN group providing confidential support, information and emergency accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic abuse across Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey.

With the shadow of the epidemic of violence against women and girls looming over the country, and Northern Ireland being marked as the most dangerous place in Europe to be a woman, the charity's work is as vital as ever.

Any support, no matter how big or small, is so deeply appreciated and impactful. From liking and sharing my post to donating to my Just Giving page, or even cheering along on the day, your support can go such a long way in helping women and children across the country.

Thanks so much and here's to 26.2 miles!
