Story
Our darling Dad very suddenly and tragically passed away from sepsis on December 13th 2024 at 62 years old. We were so schocked as to how quickly it escalated, he was in good health and life was still in full swing, working, sailing and playing. The evening before our mum and pup were having a very normal evening laughing and smiling, symptoms started in the early hours and within 24 hours he had passed away. Even when admitted to hospital, he was initially misdiagnosed and no treatment was effective.
Next June 2026 we will be doing the National Three Peak Challenge to raise awareness and funds for research to provide better chances for other families. Any donations would be very gratefully received and thank you so much for your support!
Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined.
We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:
- to raise awareness of sepsis
- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
