Sophie's fundraiser for Sepsis Research FEAT

Sophie Farrington is raising money for Sepsis Research FEAT

Team: Team fundraising for Sepsis Research FEAT

In memory of Rupert James Farrington

National Three Peaks Challenge · 13 June 2026

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the body overreacting to infection. It kills around 50,000 people in the UK each year. Sepsis Research FEAT aims to save lives & improve outcomes in sepsis patients through world leading research and awareness raising. Together we can #stopsepsisnow.

Story

In December 2024, we unexpectedly lost our wonderful Pups to sepsis at the age of 62. He was fit, active, and living life to the fullest—working, sailing, and spending time with family. The night before he passed, everything was normal, but within 24 hours, he was gone. He was initially misdiagnosed, and despite being in hospital, no treatment worked in time.

In memory of Pups and to raise awareness of sepsis, we’re taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge in June 2026. This involves climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales—Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon...in 24 hours.

Our goal is to raise money for sepsis research, to help improve diagnosis and treatment, and to hopefully lessen chances of other families experiencing the same loss. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.

Thank you for your support!

All our love x

Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined.

We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:

- to raise awareness of sepsis

- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
