Sophie's fundraiser for Safe & Sound Group

Sophie Hargreaves is raising money for Safe & Sound Group

Kilimanjaro · 9 October 2026

Safe & Sound provide vital support to vulnerable children and young people at risk of child exploitation. Through awareness raising, 1-2-1 support, youth work, family support and next steps transition work, we transform young lives with positive futures away from the dangers of exploitation.

Story

As most know, I’m attempting Kilimanjaro in October and have decided to add on a very personal fundraiser, after a really difficult year.

Neurodivergent children experience significantly higher rates of exploitation and abuse and I’ve sadly seen first hand the devastating impact.

This organisation helps so many children locally. We tend to think “it wont happen to my family”, but sadly its a very real reality for a lot of people.

I have fully funded the trip, so every penny goes directly to the charity.

Any young person is at risk of being exploited. Abusers do not discriminate based on ethnicity, social background or where they live.

It can be someone they know, a stranger or even an organised gang. What begins as a normal relationship quickly sucks them into a world of criminal or sexual activity, often both.

Safe & Sound provide vital support to children across Derbyshire who are at risk of being exploited, helping them back to a place of safety and dignity with dedicated 1-2-1 work that lowers their risk and transforms their future.
