Sophie's skydive for Alzheimer's🪂

Sophie Huggon is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Team: EDF 90 Whitfield Street

Skydive Day September 2024 · 21 September 2024 to 22 September 2024 ·

EDF vows to help end the devastation of dementia. We aim to raise a whopping £300,000 through employee fundraising and £150,000 in additional donations, all supporting the cost of life changing dementia services and ground-breaking research.

Story

For my grandma, and the many others and their families affected by dementia.

One in three born in the UK today will develop dementia. I'm so pleased that Alzheimer’s Society are EDF’s new charity partner.

I’ll be doing a skydive on Sunday 6th April - falling from 12,000 feet at 120mph! If you can donate anything, small or large, I’d be extremely grateful.

Alzheimer’s society is a charity close to my heart because my grandma has dementia. Unlike what most people believe, dementia doesn’t just affect your memory - it can have severe physical impacts too. For my grandma, it was initially just signs of slight memory loss, but 10 years on, she’s physically frail, needs 24/7 care, and gets easily confused. Despite rarely remembering our names, she always smiles when we say who we are😊

Alzheimer’s society are a vital source of support, investing millions in cutting-edge research and providing care and support in so many different ways. Just £95 could fund a telephone dementia adviser for one day, offering information and reassurance to people with dementia and their loved ones.

Unfortunately, there is still no cure for dementia, yet it affects so many of us, both young and old.

So please give what you can and stay tuned for some photos... Thank you!
